Preservative Use

Food is one of life’s basic needs of human beings. All living things are dependent on food. People have searched for it by hunting, fishing, and farming. However, today because of people’s business, they do not really consider the food’s nutritional value. They like to consume it better than their own-cooked food, although they have known that instant foods contain chemical substances like preservatives that are suspected of having adverse effects on the human system. Thus, it is urgent to control the uses of preservatives to avoid the further damage for the human system.

The uses of preservatives in food have some adverse effects for human beings. Take Monosodium Glutamate for example. This kind of preservative that is used in almost every instant food can cause headaches, dizziness, palpitation, cancer, and genetic damage. Then, the uses of Benzoates—a family of about ten chemicals that are banned in Russia—in margarine, fruit juice, beer, tea and coffee extracts, and flour, believe to cause brain damage and trigger allergies, e.g. asthma and skin rashes.

To avoid those effects, there must be a well cooperation among the government, the mass media and the society. The role of the government is to supervise and control the preservative use by its rules—making the available rules stricter. Then, the mass media is needed to inform the readers to be careful in choosing their daily foods, by telling them about the negative effects of preservative use and how to identify it in food. Finally, the society should inform the government when there is an improper preservative being used in food. So, the government can punish the criminal who use that improper preservative.

In a nutshell, consuming preservatives is dangerous for our health, and the preservative use has to be controlled to prevent the further damage of it. Just control it or you will regret.
